Vinyasa I Sidebody and IT-Band

This Vinyasa Flow class is designed to bring back length into your side body and give your IT Band a good stretch!

What is the IT Band?!

IT-Band stands for “Iliotibial Band” and describes the band of tissue that runs from your hip to your knee on the outer sides of your leg. It is a common cause for pain when overused, like in running or cycling, or when underused, like when sitting for a long time.

Both scenaries might cause inflammation or tension that is oftentimes felt as a sharp pain in the outer knee.

What are we doing in class?

This session is sequenced to stimulate the IT Band in several ways to get it back to full length and functionality.

We start off with a few Yin stretches to help the connective tissue detangle, and then follow up with a flow designed to bring movement and strength into the side body, leading you through poses like Reverse Warrior, Half Moon and Garudasana.
